Financial Resilience Training for Communities-Lake Charles, LA
We would like to invite you to participate in a workshop on Financial Resilience of local governments to natural disasters scheduled for Tuesday, May 13th, from 9:00am to 4:00pm in Lake Charles, LA. This workshop is being co-sponsored with the Louisiana Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (LA GOSHEP). At this event, we will be assisting local extension professionals and local government officials and staff better understand their financial vulnerabilities and capacities to future natural disasters in order for communities to be more resilient to these events in the future. The event will assist extension professionals deliver educational programs about financial resilience to their local governments as well as provide local government officials a self-assessment tool to their financial vulnerability and capacity as well as policy strategies to mitigate any gaps.
To encourage participation, we are awarding a limited number of travel reimbursement scholarships to extension and local government professionals to attend. If you have to travel more than two hours to Lake Charles to attend the workshop, you may be eligible for partial or full reimbursement of your travel expenses.
