The Portland, Maine tide gauge has turned 100! The Maine Geological Survey has posted some interesting statistics and trends, including the frequency of flooding and potential flooding (using NOAA’s Inundation Analysis Tool) with higher sea levels. For example, 83% of the highest recorded average monthly mean sea level values occurred in the last decade. Thanks to Pete Slovinsky of MGS for analyzing the data and to CO-OPS for maintaining the station for a century. We welcome posting of other trends or studies that you may have done or know about in New England. FMI: http://www.maine.gov/doc/nrimc/mgs/explore/marine/sites/may12.htm
