Sally Morehead Palmer is the Manager of the Mission-Aransas National Estuarine Research Reserve (NERR). She received a bachelor of science in marine biology from the University of Rhode Island and earned a masters degree in marine science from the University of Texas at Austin in 2001. After a year of working in Norway, Sally returned to the University of Texas Marine Science Institute to work on developing the Mission-Aransas NERR. As manager of the NERR, Sally supervises the operations of the research, education, stewardship, and training programs. She has also participated in the NERR System Climate Change Workgroup, NERRA executive committee and NERRS strategic committee. Since 2006, Sally has helped secure over $16 million in funding from institutions for research and construction of educational facilities. She also has research experience with benthic ecology, hypoxia, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality programs and ecosystem dynamics.
