Yesterday, USDA Secretary Vilsack announced the intent to create seven
“regional climate hubs” to provide technical assistance and other
services to key USDA constituencies, focused on agriculture,
livestock, and forestry. Below are links to the USDA press release and
a fact sheet.
Centers will be located at existing USDA offices/labs (ARS, NRCS, FS).
Locations have not been chosen. The USDA fact sheet (link below) below
has a map of the hubs’ regions, but specific locations will be chosen
by USDA later this year. Some funding will be made available through
USDA’s extramural grant program, run by the National Institute for
Food and Agriculture (NIFA).
