The human health impacts from the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill are real and substantial. As a result, a Peer Listener Training Program (PLTP) has been created in the Gulf of Mexico. Peer Listeners are trained volunteers who serve as advisors, friends, and referral agents for individuals within a community who may not desire to seek professional services, or may not know that help is available. This group was created as a mechanism to provide continued support and resources to those volunteers who have been trained and are working within their community.
