The whole point of StormSmart.org is to connect people with one another in a way that helps them help their communities. When you first join, it can be tricky to find other people. We’ve added some tools to make it easier.
The Members Page
If you head over to the StormSmart members page you’ll find a directory of all of our users. You can reorganize the list based on the time of their last visit, or alphabetically, or when they registered with the “Ordered By:” selector at the top of the list.
But say you want to find somebody specific, or find everybody from your state. Or find people looking for work. We’ve added some ways to do just those things.
If you know the name of the person you want to find, you can use the search box up at the very top of the page. 
If you want to search by other parameters, click on the box where it says “Click here to find members by city, state, or expertise” (right under the map), and you’ll see something that looks like this:
Enter whatever details you wish, then hit the search button. Easy!
Friending Members
Friending on StormSmart.org is a pretty relaxed way of keeping in touch with other people you know and/or work with. It makes it easier to find them next time you’re looking for them on StormSmart.org: you may have noticed the “My Friends” tab on the members list:
Adding friends is easy, just click on the “Add Friend” button next to the person’s name on the members list. They’ll receive an email, and once they accept your request, you’ll be all set.
Sending Messages to Other Members
Sending messages to other users is also a snap. If you move you cursor over a user’s profile photo, a little window will pop-up (unless you’re using an old browser):
Simply click on the “Private Message” link that pops up, and you’ll be taken to a window where you can type your message. Hit send, and they’ll get an email letting them know you contacted them.
